Screening equipment plays a vital role in the aggregate industry, segregating materials into uniform size products, eliminating the need for manual sorting.
Understanding Screening Equipment
Screening equipment sorts aggregate materials by size, this could happen before or after the crushing process. While screens can operate independently, the implementation of a crusher could be vital in the production process.
During the screening process, materials move and vibrate at a specific speed, causing stratification, meaning the larger particles remain on top while smaller ones pass through the screen openings.
Types of Screening Equipment
Horizontal Screens
Horizontal screens use elliptical or linear motion for increased performance and efficiency. Their proven design help ensure operational safety and simple maintenance to drastically increase service life and your profitability. Efficient performance. Reliable design and high capacity increases profitability
Incline Screens
Ideal for a variety of mining, limestone, sand and gravel, coal, woodchips, and topsoil applications to name a few, incline screens operate at a wide range of angles. They vibrate in a circular motion, allowing gravity to help move the feed material down the screen box for high processing rates as materials move efficiently down the screen.
Scalping Screens
Common in mining, construction/ demolition debris, topsoil, recycling, ore, and sand and gravel, scalping screens are fed directly from the feeder or delivery conveyor into the screen box. These screens can operate at a slower speed but higher amplitude, like popping the material off the screen box making them ideal for handling difficult materials such as lumber with roots or sticky clay materials that could otherwise get stuck.
Scalping’ refers to the removal of larger or oversized pieces of material from the feed, exactly like a sieve. Scalping screeners use vibration made from one or more eccentric shaft or shafts depending on the unit or application. The meshes, or ‘screens’ are stacked in decks, and the material is dumped on top
Dewatering Screens
Purpose:
Dewatering screens remove excess moisture from fine aggregates (typically smaller than 3/8″) before stockpiling. They are commonly fed from cyclones, wet screens, classifiers, classifying tanks, or directly from fine material washers.
Moisture Reduction:
Finished product typically reaches a moisture content of 8–15% by weight, depending on material gradation.
